What Apple are you?
What type of apple are you? This is the question that Kent Life will be asking visitors on 8 and 9 October when its annual Apple Weekend takes place.

Kent is famous for its apple growing and the popular event pays homage to the 60 plus varieties of apple that are grown on Kent Life’s 28 acre site, as well as the many varieties grown throughout the Garden of England.

So, what kind of apple are you?:
•    an Egremont Russet - a distinctive, stand-out character with a nutty personality
•    a Gala - sweet and full of life
•    a Worcester Pearmain - strong willed and unique
•    a Spartan - full of love and passionate
•    a Bramley - a merry apple with a kooky personality!

Debbie, the head gardener at Kent Life said “The main orchard here at Kent Life dates back thirty years and we are very excited about this year’s Apple Festival as we have had a successful year in terms of crop size, with over 60 varieties reaching full ripeness in time for the festival. The team here have worked exceptionally hard this week, hand picking the apples in preparation, ensuring that visitors will get the best quality Apples that the Garden of England has to offer.”

Visitors of all ages are invited to come along and find out which apple they are as they see the whole traditional process of cutting, crushing and pulping using Kent Life’s antique cider press to make delicious juice for everyone to buy and take home.

Kent Life’s freshly picked apples will be on sale over the weekend and visitors will receive a complimentary recipe booklet so that they can give cooking with apples a go themselves. There will also be a variety of Kentish Cider to try and buy over the course of the event.

On top of everything ‘appley’, visitors will be able to watch Morris Dancers performing, join in the coconut shy and children's games, ride on the farm tractor, meet the friendly farmyard animals in Cuddle Corner, drive the junior electric Quad Bikes and be creative in the Paint-a-Pot Studio, with both children and grown-up items to paint.  There will also be many local crafts and produce stalls in the Village Hall.
