Kent Life is backing the recently launched Dairylea Campaign for Simple Fun encouraging people to enjoy good old-fashioned simple fun this summer. The campaign aims to help encourage parents to revive the memories and fun times from their own childhood for their kids today.
Radio DJ Sara Cox is lending her support to the campaign and has been revisiting some of the games and pastimes of her youth to help promote the benefits of

simple fun, games and pleasures for children today. As a mother of three herself she said, “I know how hard it can be to find the time to get back to basics with play! After a long day, I know that it can be tough to think of games and ideas for the kids, and the telly can often win out in the battle for their attention. That’s why I am supporting the Dairylea Campaign for Simple Fun. Launching the campaign is the Dairylea Simple Fun Report, which found that many of us parents don’t remember the rules to the simplest of games, including British Bulldog and Marbles – I for one couldn’t remember them so I’m really happy to help raise awareness of the simplest activities we can do together as a family”.
Emily Hirons, general manager at Kent Life said, “I think the Dairylea Campaign for Simple Fun is fantastic. Heritage and things associated from the past are greatly important to us. We already offer children the chance to take part in games from an older time, ranging from hop scotch, quoits, tug of war, skipping, stilt walking, and trying to through a clothes pin in a bottle – a real favourite from the 1940’s. This campaign has got us thinking even further and we would welcome people to get in touch with us and suggest any other games we could put on, helping to bring back the old traditional games for families to share together”.
Any people with game suggestions for Kent Life are invited to email in their thoughts to
