School visits are a major part of daily life at Kent Life with parties visiting from all over the south of England and the continent. With many interactive exhibitions and hands-on displays, we are a valuable resource for students of all ages, particularly school children.
To enhance your visit, we offer a wide-ranging programme of workshops, demonstrations and guided tours to school children, in line with the National Curriculum for Key Stage I and II. These can be adapted to suit any age, level or ability. Workshops and demonstrations must be booked at the same time as your visit and are subject to availability.
Hands on History
This a loan box service, linked to the National Curriculum, that Kent Life offers to schools. The collection offers a range of objects (both genuine and reproduction) in 'themed' boxes supported by written sources, images and costume. Please click here for more information.
Familiarisation Visits
Each teacher is offered 1 ticket for a familiarisation visit (not valid on events days), with accompanying visitors paying their own admission fee. Please contact the Learning and Access department to arrange your visit. Schools will be allocated a room where you can store your bags and belongings for the duration of the day. Educational Packs for National Curriculum Key Stages 1 and 2 are available free to schools on request, and can also be downloaded from the Online Resources section.
Goody Bags

Travelling to Kent Life
We know that coaches can be a costly part of any school trip, especially in these hard times. To help with this, Kent Life in conjunction with Kent Top Travel, offer a discounted service for schools who can be picked up and collected in between school run times. Prices are as follows:

School pupils £4 per pupil.
Key Stage I: 1 adult for every 4 children will receive free admission.
Key Stage II: 1 adult for every 5 children will receive free admission.
Any additional adults will be charged the group rate of £6.25

Booking & Payment: Please telephone to make a booking for your school visit. Once the arrangements have been made with our Learning and Access Officers you will be sent a letter confirming your visit. Larger school groups may be split into smaller groups and Kent LIfe will provide a schedule for all activities and workshops. On arrival please pay by cash, cheque or credit card in the Kent Life shop.
Please Note: No refund can be given regarding absentees accounted for on pre-written cheques.
We provide free coach parking and free admission for your coach driver.
Additional Options
Boat trips
Arrive and leave in style with your class and sail to Kent Life along the beautiful river Medway. Boat trips for schools can be booked via Kent Life. They run between Maidstone Town Centre and Allington Lock (docking 50 yards from Kent Life's entrance), and they're fun as well as educational. The duration of the trip is 30 minutes one way or an hour for a round trip.
