Cuxton Chapel

Buillt in 1897, the chapel was originally a Mission Hall and later became a Congregational Chapel (Corrugated iron chapels were fairly common at this time) It's 'Mother' church was the Vines in Rochester.
The Chapel was a focal point of community life in Cuxton and played host to several groups as well as an active Sunday School. In 1972 the Chapel became part of the United Reformed Church. In 2000 Kent Life was approached with a view to re-homing the building as the congregation wanted a new chapel. A lottery grant of £89,000 was secured and the project took less than 6 months to complete. During demolition, builders found several hidden objects under the doorway, including a child's boot. These can be seen on display along with other objects in th Chapel.
